A QuickBooks bookkeeper on the Gold Coast keeps your QuickBooks Online file accurate and up to date: bank reconciliations, coding, invoicing and bills, payroll and Single Touch Payroll, and BAS lodgement by a registered BAS agent. Dedicated Bookkeeping is a certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor (Level 1 and Level 2) and Registered BAS Agent based at Hope Island, working with Gold Coast businesses in person or online, and with businesses Australia-wide.
Key takeaways
- Choose a bookkeeper who works in QuickBooks every week, not one who mainly uses another system.
- Check they are a registered BAS agent on the TPB public register before they lodge anything for you.
- A messy QuickBooks file can almost always be fixed. Moving software is not required to start fresh.
- Local helps for the first meeting, but day-to-day QuickBooks bookkeeping works just as well online.
Why it matters that your bookkeeper knows QuickBooks
QuickBooks Online, Xero and MYOB all do the same job, but they do it differently. Bank rules, GST codes, payroll setup and reporting all work in their own way in each system. A bookkeeper who works in QuickBooks every week will set up bank rules that actually save time, spot GST coding errors quickly and know which reports your accountant needs at year end.
A bookkeeper who mainly uses another system can still get the work done, but you often pay for the time they spend working out where things are. That is why “QuickBooks bookkeeper” is a reasonable thing to search for. If you are not sure what a bookkeeper should be doing for you in the first place, start with what a good bookkeeper actually does.

Signs your QuickBooks file needs a clean-up
Most QuickBooks files we take over are not a disaster. They have simply drifted. Common signs include:
- Hundreds of transactions sitting in the bank feed waiting to be accepted
- Accounts that have not been reconciled for months, or never
- Large balances in “Uncategorised income” or “Uncategorised expense”
- Customers showing as owing money they paid long ago
- GST on the BAS that does not look right compared with what you know you sold
- Duplicate transactions caused by accepting a bank feed line when the invoice payment was already recorded
If that sounds familiar, our guide to a bookkeeping catch-up explains how we get files back on track, usually starting with the oldest unlodged BAS.
QuickBooks, Xero or MYOB: do you need to switch?
Usually not. If QuickBooks Online does what your business needs and your file is set up properly, staying put is the cheapest option. We suggest a move only when there is a clear reason, for example:
- You need an add-on (such as job costing or inventory software) that works better with another platform
- Your accountant or industry strongly prefers a particular system
- The file is so badly set up that starting fresh in a new system is simpler than repairing it
If a move does make sense, we plan the cut-over, move opening balances and open transactions, reconnect bank feeds and check the first reconciliations. Our Xero listing and QuickBooks ProAdvisor status mean we can work comfortably on either side. Not sure whether you need an accountant or a bookkeeper for this? See bookkeeping vs accounting.
Local to the Gold Coast, and online when it suits you
We are based at Hope Island on the northern Gold Coast and work with businesses from Coomera and Helensvale to Southport, Robina and Burleigh Heads. Some clients like to meet in person to get started. Most then move to online bookkeeping, because QuickBooks Online, bank feeds and receipt apps mean we can see your transactions as they happen, wherever we are.
If you are wondering whether you need a bookkeeper down the road or just a good one, we have written about whether “bookkeeper near me” really needs to mean local.
Industries we keep QuickBooks books for
We have particular depth in construction and trades, allied health, professional services, real estate and law firms. These are businesses where contractor payments, TPAR, trust accounts or weekly payroll make clean books more important. See all the industries we work with.
BAS, payroll and Payday Super in QuickBooks
QuickBooks Online can prepare your BAS figures and handle Single Touch Payroll, but the software only reports what has been entered. As a registered BAS agent, we review the figures before lodging and can access later agent lodgement dates for eligible quarterly BAS. If you are new to activity statements, read what a BAS statement is.
From 1 July 2026, Payday Super means super must be paid much closer to each payday, so payroll in QuickBooks needs to be right every cycle. Our guide to STP, Payday Super and IAS explains what changed.
How to choose a QuickBooks bookkeeper on the Gold Coast
- Registered BAS agent: only a registered agent can lodge BAS for a fee. Check their number on the TPB public register.
- QuickBooks experience: ask how many QuickBooks Online files they look after and whether they hold Intuit’s QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification. Ed holds Level 1 and Level 2.
- Clear pricing: you should know the scope and the fee before work starts.
- Response time: ask how quickly they reply and who you will actually deal with.
- Monthly reporting: a good bookkeeper explains the numbers, not just sends them.

Frequently asked questions
Do you work with QuickBooks Online or only Xero?
Both. We are a certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor (Level 1 and Level 2) and a Xero partner, and we also work in MYOB. If you are happy in QuickBooks Online, we keep you there. We only suggest a move if another platform would genuinely suit your business better.
Can you fix a messy QuickBooks file?
Yes. We reconcile every bank and card account back to the statements, fix coding and GST errors, clear duplicate and uncategorised transactions, tidy up bank rules and get any overdue BAS lodged. Then we put you on a regular schedule so it stays clean.
Can you help me move from QuickBooks to Xero?
Yes. We plan a cut-over date (usually the start of a BAS quarter or financial year), move your opening balances, contacts and open invoices and bills, reconnect bank feeds and check the first reconciliations so nothing is lost.
Are you a registered BAS agent on the Gold Coast?
Yes. Ed Hutton is a Registered BAS Agent with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB 93634002), based at Hope Island on the northern Gold Coast. That means we can prepare and lodge your BAS and IAS directly from QuickBooks.
Do I need to meet my QuickBooks bookkeeper in person?
No. Most of our Gold Coast clients work with us online through QuickBooks, secure file sharing and video calls. If you are nearby and would prefer to meet in person to get started, we can arrange that.
How much does a QuickBooks bookkeeper cost on the Gold Coast?
It depends on how many transactions you have, whether you run payroll and how tidy the file is. We agree the scope first, then quote a fixed monthly fee or an hourly rate, so you know the cost before any work starts.
